Transacriptome sequencing of Heterodera schachtii esophageal glands. Heterodera schachtii

One of the important factors that H. schachtii uses to establish successful infection is secreting proteins (effectors) within the host that are able to modulate the host plant. Esophageal glands secret various effectors depending on the nematode developmental stage. Here we aimed to sequence the esophageal transcriptome of pre- and post-infective juveniles. Identification of secretory proteins expressed within the esophageal glands can lead to understand more about the biology of H. schachtii parasitism and may help finding strategies to hinder the infection.
