Pseudomonas tolaasii strain:P61 Genome sequencing and assembly

This project highlights the rhizobacterial strain P61, identified as Pseudomonas tolaasii, and its ability to inhibit the plant-pathogenic fungus Rhizoctonia solani. Although P61 does not produce chitinases or volatile compounds, it consistently reduced fungal growth in dual culture assays, suggesting that other bacterial metabolites are involved in its antifungal effect. The culture filtrate of P61 also showed inhibitory activity against the fungus. When applied to Serrano chili seedlings, P61 helped lower seedling mortality caused by R. solani, showing its potential as a biological control option during early plant development.
