Number of United Kingdom citizens becoming citizens of EU countries 2013-2018

In 2018, almost 16.2 thousand British citizens acquired the citizenship of a European Union country, an increase of over 10 thousand when compared with the previous year. There has been a noticeable uptick in the number of British citizens acquiring EU citizenship since the Brexit vote of 2016.
