资源简介:
Overview This service provides detailed data on flood hazard zones as identified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) within Tallahassee and Leon County, Florida. It represents flood risk areas based on FEMA's Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps (DFIRM), which are vital for floodplain management, planning, insurance, and emergency preparedness. This layer is updated from FEMA's official map service as new LOMAs and LOMRs for Tallahassee and Leon County are adopted by FEMA. Feature Layers FEMA Flood Zones: This layer delineates various flood zones designated by FEMA which indicate zones of differing flood risks. These zones include Special Flood Hazard Areas (SFHA) characterized by a 1-percent annual chance flood event (also known as the 100-year flood), moderate flood hazard areas, and areas of minimal flood risk. The data incorporates base flood elevations, velocity zones, depth, and other key flood-related parameters. Flood hazard areas identified on the Flood Insurance Rate Map are identified as a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). SFHA are defined as the area that will be inundated by the flood event having a 1-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year. The 1-percent annual chance flood is also referred to as the base flood or 100-year flood. SFHAs are labeled as Zone A, Zone AO, Zone AH, Zones A1-A30, Zone AE, Zone A99, Zone AR, Zone AR/AE, Zone AR/AO, Zone AR/A1-A30, Zone AR/A, Zone V, Zone VE, and Zones V1-V30. Moderate flood hazard areas, labeled Zone B or Zone X (shaded) are also shown on the FIRM, and are the areas between the limits of the base flood and the 0.2-percent-annual-chance (or 500-year) flood. The areas of minimal flood hazard, which are the areas outside the SFHA and higher than the elevation of the 0.2-percent-annual-chance flood, are labeled Zone C or Zone X (unshaded). Note: This layer should always be used in conjunction with the layer FEMA Base Flood Elevation Profile Lines. Geographic Coverage The coverage area is focused on Tallahassee and Leon County in the state of Florida, providing localized flood hazard information relevant to this region. Use Cases Flood risk assessment for property development, land use planning, and permitting. Supporting local government and emergency management agencies in floodplain management. Assisting insurance companies in determining flood insurance requirements and premiums. Guiding public awareness and education on flood hazards. Licensing and Data Quality The floodplain information is compiled from the most accurate source data available from Leon County, the City of Tallahassee, and the Leon County Property Appraiser's Office. While comprehensive, the data should be used as a reference and not as a legal or survey document. Users are advised to verify flood zone information with the designated floodplain manager in the permitting jurisdiction.
