Website Cookie Consent Usability and Privacy Compliance Data from Saudi Arabia (Multi-Sector Study)

This dataset accompanies the article <i>“A Multi-Sector Evaluation of Cookie Consent Usability and Privacy Compliance in Saudi Arabia.”</i> It contains the results of a systematic evaluation of cookie consent interfaces across 144 high-traffic websites accessed in Saudi Arabia, spanning five key sectors: government, e-commerce, finance, healthcare, and education.The dataset is divided into three files:<b>Website Cookie Consent Design Compliance Data</b> – sector-wise compliance with eight design-related guidelines, including accessibility, visibility, and user control.<b>Website Cookie Consent Interface Type Mapping (A–D)</b> – interface type assigned to each website based on a prior classification framework, with details on banner placement and interaction options.<b>Website Cookie Consent Privacy Compliance Data</b> – sector-wise compliance with five privacy-related guidelines, including consent revisiting, opt-out options, and avoidance of implied consent.Data were collected in two phases (December 2024 and February 2025) to capture compliance status and temporal changes. This resource provides researchers, regulators, and designers with empirical evidence on the usability and privacy alignment of cookie interfaces in a Middle Eastern context. It also supports cross-country comparison studies and the development of user-centered privacy standards.
