VPRS 15502 Student Magazines

This series consists of bound volumes and folders containing magazines issued by The Department of Education and successor agencies for students in State Primary and Junior Secondary schools.Almost all volumes and folders from this series were accumulated in the Education History Unit of the Department of Education and Training. They are grouped into the following consignments:Consignment P1 - The School Paper. These volumes were created from 1896 to 1968 as a students papers from grade 3 and 4, 5 and 6 and forms 1 and 2.Consignment P2 - Orbit and Meteor. These magazines were created from 1969 to 1971 replacing the grade III and IV as well as V and VI editions of The School Paper. Orbit for Grade III and IV, Meteor for grade V and VI. Although Orbit from 1970 was just for grade IV.Consignment P3 - Pursuit. This magazine was for junior secondary students (Forms 1-3) and was created in 1969 as a replacement for the initially Grade VII and VIII and after 1962 form 1 and 2 edition of The School Paper.Consignment P4 - Comet. This magazine was produced for grade III students and replaced Orbit in 1970.Consignment P5 - Explore - for junior primary. Created in 1972Consignment P6 - Challenge for senior primary from 1972.Consignment P7 - Teachers' Notes and Topic Guides comprising regularly published indexes to Comet, Explore, Challenge and Pursuit and a topic guide to the subject matter of all articles published in these magazines between 1969 and 1989.Consignment P8 - Posters for issues of Challenge, Comet, Explorer and Pursuit (likely incomplete).Consignment P9 - Audiotapes to accompany issues of Explore and Challenge (likely incomplete).
