Telling Stories by Evaluating Project Outcome Surveys in South Carolina, 2016-2023

While
the U.S. Public Library Survey (PLS) is an important resource for the library community, many other
organizations collect data that extends the PLS’s significance and reach.
Project Outcome was a free toolkit and online resource that enabled librarians to document how patrons benefit from library programming. From
its launch in 2015 through 2025, Project Outcome collected well over 390,000
survey responses from nearly 2,300 library districts. This dataset, focused on the State of South Carolina, has been scrubbed of direct and indirect identifiers. It is intended to support library science educators by providing public data to teach students how to analyze the Project outcome dataset.
