资源简介:
This dataset accompanies the paper Nghiem et al. (2026), Mechanisms Driving Transport and Accretion of Mud from Channels to Islands in a River-Dominated Delta. This dataset reports field measurements of water (discharge, flow velocity, shear velocity, depth, and bed roughness) and sediment (suspended sediment concentration, deposit thickness, and flux) from the Wax Lake Delta, Louisiana in 2021 as part of the NASA Delta-X project. The dataset also contains results from a hydraulic model that describes flow between primary channels (Greg and Main Passes) and a delta island (Mike Island). Please refer to the paper for a full description of the methods and calculations.readme: Description of variables in the data filescap_transect: Thickness of the muddy deposit capping Mike Island measured along a transectdepth_profile: Flow parameters, sediment concentration, and sediment flux measured with an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) and suspended sediment concentration-depth profilesGregPassSurvey: Survey of water discharge, measured by ADCP, and sediment discharge at multiple cross-channel transects along Greg Passhyd_transect_GP-W: Transect Greg Pass-wetland elevation profile data for the hydraulic modelhyd_transect_MP-SC: Transect Main Pass-secondary channel elevation profile data for the hydraulic modelhydraulic_model: Time series of boundary conditions and water discharge results from the hydraulic modellevee_indicator: Time series of local flow depth and water surface elevation extracted from game camera photosorange_peel: Point measurements of surface water flow velocity, by tracking floating orange peels, and flow depth in Mike Island
