Gryllus bimaculatus Genome sequencing and assembly

The two-spotted cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus, is a key hemimetabolous model organism for studies in developmental biology, neuroscience, and regeneration, as well as an emerging sustainable food source. This project provides the raw sequencing data used to generate a high-quality, chromosome-scale genome assembly.We sequenced a male specimen from the white-eyed mutant strain, which is a common laboratory standard. The raw data include: (1) Oxford Nanopore (PromethION) long reads, (2) PacBio HiFi reads, and (3) Dovetail Omni-C (Hi-C) reads. These data were used to upgrade the existing draft assembly (Ylla et al. 2021) to a chromosome-scale reference, anchoring 94.45% of the genome into 15 pseudochromosomes, consistent with the species' known karyotype (n=15). This resource will support advanced genomic research, including synteny analysis, structural variant detection, and epigenomics.
