WGS of Shigella spp and EIEC isolates from a cross-sectional study in the Netherlands, collected during 2016 and 2017.. WGS of Shigella spp and EIEC isolates from IBESS

During 2016 and 2017, a cross-sectional study in the Netherlands was conducted with the aim to assess incidence, population structure, disease outcomes and impact on public health of Shigella spp and EIEC. During this study, 15 participating laboratories sent all their Shigella spp and EIEC isolates to the study group. All isolates were thoroughly characterized, both phenotypically and genotypically, in conjunction with epidemiological data of the patients that were infected.
