资源简介:
This study traces some biographical events in the life of Giuseppe Tanese (1861-1928), conductor of the Copertino Wind Band, and documents the discovery of two unpublished compositions: Onestà (1902) and Notte Placida (1903). Through archival research and ethnographic investigations, the study contextualizes Tanese's role in Salento's musical culture, challenging the mythologized narrative surrounding the band and the famous funeral hymn Udite figlie. The analysis reveals that the anthem, the cornerstone of the Good Friday procession in Copertino, has undergone significant transformations—including a tonal change (from D minor to C minor) and the transition from children's voices to female voices-becoming an example of the "invention of tradition." The recovered scores, dedicated to the intellectual Pantaleo Cordella, attest to Tanese's integration into civic life and expand his output beyond sacred music.
