An RNA-Seq analysis was done on a field-grown tomato variety (Docet) carrying the Sw5b gene and naturally infected by a resistance-breaking tomato spotted wilt virus strain. Results mainly showed impaired photosynthesis, protein synthesis, and increased redox reactions. Remarkably, a strong correlation between gene expression and virus accumulation level was demonstrated.
