2024 NHERI Summer Institute for Early Career Faculty

From June 12-14, 2024, the seventh annual NHERI Summer Institute for Early Career Faculty was hosted by the NHERI Network Coordination Office Education and Community Outreach at the University of Texas at San Antonio Downtown Campus.

NHERI welcomed early-career natural hazards researchers to learn about the Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI) network’s eleven experimental and research facilities, Science Plan, and Technology Transfer Committee. These resources were paired with the U.S. National Science Foundation’s information and resources on intellectual merit and broader impacts.

Attendees had the unique opportunity to engage closely with experienced mentors, fostering an environment of guidance and support. Throughout the proposal writing exercise, participants benefited from the wealth of resources available within the NHERI network, empowering them to enhance their skills and refine their ideas. This collaborative experience not only provided invaluable insights but also encouraged personal growth and creativity in their writing endeavors.
