Pectobacterium odoriferum strain:BC S7 Genome sequencing. Pectobacterium odoriferum strain:BC S7

A new strain, BC S7, of Pectobacterium carotovoum subsp. odoriferum（Pco），was isolated soft-rotted Chinese cabbage (Brassica pekinensis (Lour.) Rupr.) in Beijing, China. Morphological analyses showed BC S7 was a Gram-negative, rot-shaped Pectobacterium with flagellum. It could grow at 37℃ and even in 7% NaCl contained medium; could utilize glucose, maltose, sucrose, lactose, inositol and α-methyl glucoside and other regular carbon sources. In the phylogenetic analysis of the whole 16S rRNA gene sequences, BC S7 and other Pco strains grouped together as a distinct Pco cluster. BC S7 proved a high capacity to rot Chinese cabbage. This is the first public report on the Pco genome compared to the other published pathogens of Pectobacterium including P. atrosepticum（Pa), P. wasaliae（Pw）, P. carotovoum subsp. carotovorum（Pcc）and P. carotovoum subsp. brasilience（Pcb）.
