Soil samples were collected from 21 designated stations in northern Barataria Bay, which included 7 reference, 7 moderately oiled, and 7 heavily oiled stations. For the soil microbial community, DNA was extracted from soil samples, sequenced with Illumina MiSeq, and the sequence data was processed with QIIME.
