# HYSPLIT air-mass trajectories supporting Valiente et al. (2011) ## What this dataset containsThis Zenodo deposit documents the **air-mass origin analysis** used in: Valiente, J.A., Estrela, M.J., Corell, D., Fuentes, D., Valdecantos, A., Baeza, J. (2011).*Fog water collection and reforestation at a mountain location in a western Mediterranean basin region:air-mass origins and synoptic analysis*. **Erdkunde**, 65(3), 277–290.DOI: 10.3112/erdkunde.2011.03.05 It includes **16 HYSPLIT trajectory output files (.dat, tdump format)**:- **5-day (120 h) backward and forward trajectories**- initialized at **four representative start times**: - 2007-04-26 20:00 - 2007-04-29 10:00 - 2007-07-14 21:00 - 2007-07-15 10:00- and at **two starting heights**: **1 m** and **1000 m AGL**(4 dates × 2 heights × 2 directions = 16 trajectories) A file index is provided in `trajectory_manifest.csv`. ## File naming convention`209_YYMMDD_HH_HEIGHT_DIRECTION.dat` Examples:- `209_070426_20_1_back.dat` → backward trajectory starting 2007-04-26 20:00 at 1 m AGL- `209_070426_20_1000_fwrd.dat` → forward trajectory starting 2007-04-26 20:00 at 1000 m AGL ## Meteorological inputThe header of each `.dat` file lists the meteorological dataset used (e.g., GDAS) and the dates of the fields. ## Column definitions (tdump format)The `.dat` files include a header followed by a table of trajectory points, typically at hourly steps. In the table:- `age_h`: trajectory age in hours (0 at start; negative values for backward trajectories)- `lat`, `lon`: latitude/longitude (degrees)- `height`: trajectory height (as configured; in this dataset the start heights are 1 and 1000 m AGL)- `pressure`: pressure (hPa), included because the header specifies `PRESSURE` ## LicenseRecommended: **CC BY 4.0** for data and documentation. ## How to citeCite this Zenodo dataset (DOI assigned by Zenodo) and the related publication (DOI: 10.3112/erdkunde.2011.03.05).
