Preliminary research on the relationship between the age of forest-forming tree species and seed quality

This dataset originates from a study investigating the influence of maternal tree age on the physiological and biochemical characteristics of European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) seeds, with particular focus on the role of abscisic acid (ABA) — a key hormone regulating seed maturation, dormancy, and germination. The data include measurements of ABA content in seeds and expression levels of genes involved in the ABA signaling pathway, specifically SnRK2 and ABI5. Seed samples were collected from trees representing different age classes across populations that varied in environmental conditions and masting intensity.
