资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. The series from Nabiac Public School is currently represented by one volume, which contains entries for enrolments dating from between 1928 and 1948. This volume was apparently commenced in 1937 or 1938, but includes retrospective entries for all enrolments current at that time. The volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, age and religious denomination; date of leaving previous school and class on leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and any reason assigned for leaving are also recorded.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in two distinct sequences. The numbering continues that used in the previous volume of the series (whose whereabouts is currently unknown), from which entries prior to 1937 have evidently been copied. From 1937 until 1941, and again in 1948, each new school year begins on a new double-page opening of the volume.Loose inside the front cover of this volume are a letter to the Headmaster dated the 4th of March, 1947, on the subject of War Savings Certificates, and a copy of a class timetable for the year 1948.Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.
