The aim of this study was to identify which genes and pathways are involved in determining the differences in panda hair color. We used the RNA-seq technique to identify genes that are differentially expressed in different-colored hair follicles of giant pandas, and we performed functional enrichment analysis of these DEGs. The data set generated in this study can be used as an important resource for genetic research on the fur color of giant pandas and can promote the development of molecular genetics research in giant pandas
