Intermediate inheritance with disomic tendency in tetraploid intergeneric Citrus x Poncirus hybrids enhances the efficiency of citrus rootstock breeding

Poncirus genus and its intergeneric hybrids with Citrus are important ressources for citrus rootstock breeding. GBS data from Citrus, Poncirus and Intergeneric hybrids were mined to identify SNPs specific of the Poncirus genus. Some of these SNPs markers were then used to analyse the meiotic behavior of tetraploid Citrus x poncirus intergeneric hybrids. Preferential chromosome pairing resulting in intermediate inheritance with disomic tendency allow transmitting efficiently the genetic value of tetraploid Citrus x Poncirus intergeneric hybrids to their progenies.
