Surveillance of antimicrobial resistance in the healthcare setting using a rapid metagenomics-based approach

This study focused on the development of a rapid metagenomics approach for the surveillance of antimicrobial resistant microorganisms in healthcare environments. This approach integrates an extraction protocol optimised for low-biomass samples with long-read metagenomics sequencing to capture the total genetic diversity of microbial communities samples from the air and surfaces of clinical and non-clinical locations.
