Rail Stations and Platforms
Overview: This GIS data is part of the overall “Major Transit Stops and High-Quality Transit Corridors” data set which VTA has developed to show the locations of these features (which are defined in State law) in Santa Clara County. These GIS layers are intended to be a reference for local jurisdiction staff, consultants, developers, and members of the public in Santa Clara County. This information may be helpful in interpreting various State land use, housing and transportation laws that refer to these terms. USE OF THIS DATA IS SUBJECT TO THE DISCLAIMER AND TERMS OF USE POSTED IN THE ‘CUSTOM LICENSE’ SECTION OF THIS PAGE. Descriptions of the individual layers in this data set are provided on the Data Catalog pages for each layer. VTA has developed a How-To Guide that provides more detail on the GIS layers as well as the assumptions and judgement calls involved in developing this data. This How-To Guide is available upon request by emailing plan.review@vta.org. The bus stop locations in this data set are current as of January 2025. The VTA bus service / schedule information is current as of October 2025. Layer Grouping – Rail Stations and Platforms (Currently Active on Weekdays): Overview of Layers in this Layer Grouping: Within this layer grouping, there are two GIS layers, named SCC Rail Stations and VTA Light Rail Platforms. SCC Rail Stations is a layer that shows all rail stations in Santa Clara County that are served by at least one round trip per day on weekdays. This includes rail stations in service as of October 2025. The set of stations in Santa Clara County is not anticipated to change until 2028 when two stations will be added with the opening of the Eastridge-to-BART Regional Connector (EBRC) light rail extension. VTA Light Rail Platforms is a layer that contains polygons for each VTA light rail platform. These platform locations were used to determine where to place the single point for each VTA light rail station in the SCC Rail Stations layer – the points were placed at the geographic centroid of the minimum bounding rectangle between the platforms. Note that at the three light rail stations in the Downtown San Jose Transit Mall (St. James, Santa Clara, and Paseo de San Antonio), the geographic centroid is located mid-block between First Street and Second Street.
如需获取该操作指南,可发送邮件至plan.review@vta.org进行申请。
