CarboAfrica

CarboAfrica has expanded and improved terrestrial GHG flux tower measurements and ecological sampling across Sub-Saharan Africa. The network has enhanced monitoring capabilities in different ecosystem-types, representative of the Africa's biodiversity, and is the first initiative to cover tropical forests. The monitoring system considers flux measurements together with specific models which assimilate data on soil, atmosphere, agriculture, hydrology, fires and ecological variables in order to identify the links between carbon cycle and nutrients, hydrology, fires, and land use. The data are used to produce spatial and temporal analyses of GHG sources and sinks.
