Census-Tract Weekly Firearm Violence and Contextual Indicators, Washington, DC (2014–2025)

This dataset contains weekly counts of gun violence incidents at the census-tract level in Washington, DC, from 2014 through 2025. The data were assembled to support spatiotemporal analyses of firearm violence and its association with neighborhood-level social and environmental conditions.Each record represents a census tract–week observation and includes the number of gun violence incidents along with tract-level demographic, social vulnerability, and built environment indicators. Social context measures include components of the CDC Social Vulnerability Index (SVI), while environmental variables capture features such as land use, transportation, and neighborhood characteristics. Temporal indicators are included to support time-series and epidemic–endemic modeling approaches.Gun violence incident data were aggregated from publicly available administrative sources and spatially joined to census tract boundaries. All variables are provided at the census-tract level; no individual-level or personally identifiable information is included.This dataset is intended for research on spatial epidemiology, urban health, criminology, and policy evaluation. It can be used for time-series modeling, spatial regression, epidemic–endemic models, and other analyses examining the social and environmental determinants of firearm violence.
