The study on innovations - influences of new developments on our society was conducted by USUMA on behalf of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. During the survey period 02.02.2021 to 30.03.2021, 1307 eligible voters were surveyed in telephone interviews (CATI) on the following topics: politics, technology, economy and sustainability as well as socio-demographic questions. Respondents were selected by stratified random sampling from an ADM selection frame including landline and mobile phone numbers (dual-frame sample).<br>Life satisfaction; willingness to take risks; economic situation of the region; expected economic change for the region; assessment of the innovative capacity of the regional economy; party preference (Sunday question) and alternative party; party affinity or dislike of different parties; agreement with statements on digitalization (new jobs will be created in Germany through digitalization, digitalization endangers our jobs, digitalization makes our work easier, technology has become so complicated that I often don´t know how to use it, technology will help me to continue to live independently in old age, I would like more help in everyday life through the technical innovations, when I think of the developments in digitalization I get anxious); digital devices used (smartphone, tablet or iPad, computer or laptop, smart watch or digital bracelet, speaker or screen with digital voice assistant such as Amazon Alexa, etc.); frequency of internet use; frequency of purchasing goods or services over the internet; frequency of use of different digital offers (entering an electricity meter reading online, clarifying a question with the authority by email, making an appointment with an authority online, exchanging or giving away objects or services with people in the neighbourhood online, paying digitally via an app); receiving advice from a doctor online; using an app to monitor personal health data or one´s own physical activities with fitness apps or fitness trackers; willingness to provide the following information on a website on the internet (personal details such as name or address, favourite books or films, photos of the respondent with friends, medical information such as X-rays, bank balance); data protection: concern about the use of personal data by companies and by the state; attitude towards innovation (e.g. enjoy trying out new technology, suspicious of new technical developments, etc.); frequency of interest in owning the latest technical devices, of fear of failure in dealing with modern technology as well as of being overwhelmed in dealing with technical innovations; agreement with various statements with regard to technical developments (technical developments are decisive for the progress of our society, more advantages than disadvantages, politics will also decide on appropriate regulations for new technical developments, even before the introduction of a new technology the dangers should be ruled out, drug manufacturers can be trusted in the development of new drugs, we should rely more on common sense and less on scientific studies); agreement with various statements on the topic of technical developments and climate protection (for the preservation of the environment it is necessary for everyone to refrain more frequently, technical developments are the best measure against climate change, climate protection is more likely to succeed through new technology than by many behaving differently, technical developments will not be enough to stop climate change); party competence in the areas of environmental and climate policy, refugee and asylum policy, social policy, policy to secure the prosperity achieved, policy that supports companies to develop new things, proper innovation policy); intended vaccination against the coronavirus. Demography: sex; age; occupation; job security; unemployment longer than 6 months; degree of urbanization of living environment; household size; number of persons in household 18 years and older; religious denomination; frequency of churchgoing; education; migration background of respondent or parents; federal state; city size. Additionally coded were: Respondent ID; number of regular mobile phone users aged 18 and over; number of mobile phone numbers on which the respondent can be reached by phone; number of landline numbers; sample (landline or mobile); weight.
