Water User Profiles — Surveys in the Longaví River Basin (Chile)

This database contains the results of 268 face-to-face surveys administered to water users in the Longaví River basin, Maule Region, Chile. The instrument was designed to characterise the socioeconomic, productive, and organisational profile of water rights holders and users, as well as their perceptions regarding water management, extreme climate events (droughts and floods), and climate change. The questionnaire comprises 104 variables (questions) organised into the following thematic modules: 1. Farm identification and property data (irrigation canal, land tenure status, municipality).2. Sociodemographic profile (age, gender, educational level).3. Water rights ownership and participation in Water User Organisations (WUOs).4. Water source, irrigation technology, water turn system, and abstraction method.5. Agricultural production, marketing, and productive challenges.6. Knowledge of the Water Code and basin-level participation.7. Flood recovery and institutional support received.8. Attitudes towards collective action and the Junta de Vigilancia.9. Conflicts among water users.10. Technical and financial assistance.11. Perceptions of climate change and future scenarios. The data were collected as part of an organisational strengthening process of the Junta de Vigilancia del Río Longaví (JVRL). The dataset has been anonymised: variables that allowed individual identification of respondents have been removed (surveyor name, respondent's first name, and phone number). Each record is identified by an anonymous code (id_respondente: R001 to R268). Files are provided in CSV (UTF-8 with BOM, comma-separated), XLSX, and ODS formats. A variable dictionary (codebook) is also included, containing the original question text and the possible values for each column.
