This is an ortho photo of Sanahin Monastery, Lori, Armenia. An orthophoto is a geometrically corrected aerial image that accurately represents the site, allowing for precise measurements and mapping without distortion.<i>The information in this site description is provided for contextual purposes only and should not be regarded as a primary source.</i><br>Sanahin Monastery is an Armenian monastic site known for its stone-built churches, vaulted galleries, and sculptural ornamentation. The complex includes religious, educational, and funerary structures arranged within a unified spatial layout. Architectural features such as domes, arches, and inscriptions reflect Armenian design principles and theological symbolism. The site contributes to understanding monastic life, artistic traditions, and regional architectural development.Sanahin Monastery is listed as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, <b>'Monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin'</b>.The Zamani Project seeks to increase awareness and knowledge of tangible cultural heritage in Africa and internationally by creating metrically accurate digital representations of historical sites. Digital spatial data of cultural heritage sites can be used for research and education, for restoration and conservation, and as a record for future generations.
