Population and Landscape Genomics of Introduced Javan Mynas in Singapore

We studied fine-scale genetic connectivity and recent demographic history in invasive Javan Mynas (Acridotheres javanicus) using genome-wide ddRADSeq data and a novel genome of this species. We found that genome-wide SNPs and a suite of landscape genomic analyses were able to determine patterns in population connectivity and gene flow within a very small study area where conventional methods failed to show anything other than homogeneity. We anticipate that the methods presented in this study will be highly relevant for biologists working with similar systems characterised by high gene-flow and a lack of mutation-drift equilibrium.
