In the present study, we investigated the consequences of trehalose intake on brain metabolism in mice drinking for 0, 1, and 10 days. Microarray analyses were performed to identify the molecular targets involved in the brain metabolism of trehalose intake. Male C57Bl/6J mice (9 weeks old) were housed in groups of three mice per cage at 22°C in a 12h light/dark cycle and given free access to diet and water. After an acclimatization period of 1 week, the mice were given water (0 day) or trehalose for 1, 10 days. At the end of the study period, mice (0 day, n=2; trehalose for 1 day, n=3; trehalose for 10 day) were anesthetized after a 6h period of fasting. Mice were transcardially perfused with 0.1M PB plus heparin, brain was taken, left hemispheare was immedeately frozen at -80°C for arrey analysis, right hemispheare was used for histological analysis. All mice experiments were approved by the local animal ethics committee.
