Metagenomic next-generation sequencing for the detection of pathogenic microorganisms in community-acquired pneumonia

This study assessed the diagnostic efficacy and clinical applicability of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) compared to traditional culture methods for immunocompromised patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). The results showed that mNGS had advantage over culture in identifying pathogenic microbes and mixed infections, or in individuals with negative culture.
