Complete genome sequence of an electroactive bacterium isolated from a microbial fuel cell developed from estuarine sediment.

In this project, we attempted to isolate novel electroactive bacteria (EAB) from mud collected at various locations in Japan. We operated microbial fuel cells (MFCs) with mud and isolated EAB from the anodes of those that exhibited higher power output. As a result, a strain YSD1 was isolated from the anode of an MFC developed from estuarine sediment. Whole genome sequencing of YSD1 suggested that this strain is affiliated with the genus Fundidesulfovibrio.
