Human sputum 16S rDNA profiles - children with cystic fibrosis

The lung microbiome in cystic fibrosis (CF) is home to numerous pathogens shortening the life of patients. In contrast to adults whose lung infections are mostly resilient, children are more responsive to therapy. Our aim was to assess changes in the lung microbiome in children with CF that were induced by antibiotic therapy against the most important of the pathogens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
