H2A.Z is highly conserved between species and plays a significant role in diverse cellular processes; however, how the H2A.Z nucleosome occupancy mediates tissue-specific transcription in plants is still poorly understood. Here, we performed a genome-wide characterization of H2A.Z in rice seedling and callus tissues, and found that the differential deposition of H2A.Z in combination with chromatin marks may play important roles in regulating gene transcription during rice development
