Replication Data for: Wetter winters amplify temperature effects on fine root growth and increase tree growth in north-eastern European beech forests

This study investigates the role of winter climate for ecosystem functioning in European beech forests. We conducted a snow exclusion and rain addition experiment in 11 forest stands distributed over the species´ north-eastern distribution range. Above- and belowground growth, decomposition and nutrient availability were analysed along gradients of winter precipitation and soil temperature, achieved by both natural differences between sites and experimental manipulation. This dataset contains the replication data for the main analysis of the manuscript.
