Permanent nerve damage caused by anesthesia is a rare but critical issue, and the mechanism of it remains unclear. Large-scale analysis of changes in noncoding RNA such as circRNA and microRNA in anesthesia-related nerve damage may provide insight into the mechanism of anesthesia-induced nerve injury. Three patients with caesarean delivery under combined spinal and epidural anesthesia, who had neurological complications with a final diagnosis of post-anesthesia permanent nerve damage, were selected. Three patients undergoing the same operation and anesthesia process, but without neural damage were chosen as parallel control. All patients were followed up for 5 years, and venous blood was collected for whole transcriptome sequencing.
