The primary objective of PICO is to bring these diverse stakeholders together to co-create new knowledge through participatory bioeconomic modelling and to design integrated ecosystem-based management (EBM) regimes for Red King crab (RKC) and Snow crab (SC) in the Barents Sea. The secondary objectives of PICO are to: 1. Assess risk perceptions of RKC/SC on different marine ESs among relevant interest groups in order to capture uncertainty and parameterize bioeconomic models on management of RKC/SC; 2. Co-develop stated preference surveys for estimation of trade-offs in maintenance of sustainable populations of RKC/SC and marine ESs among general public allowing for the inclusion of non-use values in bioeconomic models; 3. Engage relevant interest groups in co-developing conceptual and applied bioeconomic models to inform EBM of RKC/SC in the Barents Sea; 4. Evaluate existing management regimes to identify types of regulatory instruments required and quantitatively estimate the desired.
