The primary author, year of publication, and country the study was conducted and published in are provided. ‘H’ is the number of different H-types reported in the experiment(s), strains is the number of different strains (multiple version of one H-type might be used) in each study. Temperatures, pHs and salinities are the number of different levels recorded for each factor. Experimental combinations is the total number of temperature/pH/salinity/strain combinations that could be directly ascertained from the paper. Rt, R2 and slope is the number of individual reports of each result in each paper. The origin and year of isolation for all strains used in each study are available in S1 Table.
