Marker Gene analysis paired with planar optodes and porewater chemistry in rhizobox mesocosm experiment

Custom-made rhizoboxes, integrated with state-of-the-art planar optode sensors and, outfitted with porewater, soil and gas samplers, allow for integration of porewater chemistry, soil microbiology, soil-plant trace gas flux, belowground root dynamics, along with an entire spatially resolved oxygen (O2) profile (i.e., planar optode). We test our experimental design with a case study, using three rhizoboxes, two containing plants (one flooded, one drained) and one containing soil only (flooded).
