These registers contain a summary record of all Annual Leases in the Land District of Hay, kept by the Hay Lands Office.An application for an Annual Lease would be submitted to the local Crown Land Agent. Upon receipt of such an application, the Agent would enter the details into this register. Each new application was numbered in consecutive order, beginning at one at the start of each calendar year.Once an application for an Annual Lease had been approved and the notice published in the NSW Government Gazette, this register was then used to record each rent payment made by the leasee.Prior to the introduction of this series, Crown Land Agents kept two series of registers for Annual Lease information - one to record applications for leases, and one to record approved leases with entries of rent payments. The new series of registers were designed to amalgamate the two series, thereby creating greater efficiency in the Land Office.The register records information such as the number of the application, the name and address of the applicant or transferee, date and time of receipt of application, date of auction sale, tender of application after auction or after time for tender, date of transfer, date of registration of transfer, area and description of land, deposit paid, date of gazette, annual rent, area granted, payments of rent, withdrawals of area from lease, amounts of authorised refund, any reductions to rent or area of land, amount of survey fee deposited etc.
