资源简介:
Dietary fibre is essential for maintaining good health, influencing metabolism, inflammation, and the composition of the gut and oral microbiome. However, its role in oral health, particularly in gum disease (periodontitis), is not well understood. This study explored how different fibre levels in the diet affect overall health, metabolism, and the microbiome in a mouse model of periodontitis.Mice were fed either a high-fibre or low-fibre diet for eight weeks, and researchers examined body composition, blood sugar levels, inflammation, and changes in gut and oral bacteria. The results showed that a high-fibre diet led to lower body weight, improved blood sugar control, and reduced inflammation. Additionally, gut and oral microbiomes differed between diet groups, with high-fibre diets promoting beneficial bacteria and low-fibre diets favoring inflammation-associated species. These findings suggest that fibre-rich diets not only benefit metabolism but may also play a role in reducing inflammation and influencing oral health. This research highlights the importance of diet in maintaining overall well-being and could have implications for managing conditions like gum disease and metabolic disorders.
