The Liaoning Soil Species Dataset is compiled and processed based on *Liaoning Soil Species Annals* published by Liaoning University Press in 1991, which is the achievement of the Second National Soil Survey of Liaoning Province. We standardized, structured and digitized the data and information including the distribution range, morphological characteristics, physical and chemical properties, productivity and other aspects of 237 soil species.
