Flood and landslides in Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Italy: Ground Deformation, Damage, Risk and Impact Assessment (2025-11-16)

During the night between 16 and 17 November 2025, an intense convective rainfall event struck the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in northeastern Italy, which triggered rapid rises in water levels along the Judrio River and its tributaries, producing flash floods that affected several municipalities. In Brazzano, in Cormons municipality, the combination of saturated slopes and extreme runoff led to a destructive landslide that impacted residential buildings, caused 2 fatalities, and forced the evacuation of several hundred people. In response to the scale of damage, the national Civil Protection system on behalf of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region requested this activation focused on ground deformation, flood impact and landslide risk. These products provide a common, wall-to-wall geospatial baseline that combines event-specific information (flood and landslide footprints, damage) with longer-term indicators of slope instability and flood behaviour to support not only post-event analysis.
