This project investigates the alterations in the gut microbiota associated with sepsis-induced gastrointestinal dysfunction and the modulatory effects of the traditional Chinese medicine Dahuang Fuzi Tang. The study utilized a murine model of sepsis, with fecal samples collected from three experimental groups: (1) healthy control mice, (2) sepsis model mice, and (3) sepsis model mice treated with Dahuang Fuzi Tang. All animal procedures and sample collection were conducted at the College of Pharmacy, Liaoning University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, located in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, in Northeast China. 16S rDNA sequencing was performed to profile the microbial communities and identify differentially abundant taxa between groups, aiming to elucidate the potential mechanism of action of Dahuang Fuzi Tang from a microbiological perspective.
