This data was collected from three (3) Higher Education Institutions in the South East Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria. The institutions selected were: Anambra- Federal Polytechnic, Oko; Enugu- University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus; and Imo- Federal Polytechnic, Nekede. The selection process for the participants involved a multistage sampling technique. Research assistance were recruited and well-trained to aid the data collection (at the last stage of the sampling) and for the data entry process. At the first stage of the sampling, three States out of the five (5) States in the south-east geopolitical zone were randomly drawn to be part of the study. The states selected using simple balloting were Anambra, Enugu and Imo states. All the federal HEIs (Universities and Polytechnics) in the selected states were mapped into three clusters according to the three selected states and using simple random sampling method, one HEI was drawn from each cluster to make a total of 3 participating HEIs. The institutions selected were: Anambra- Federal Polytechnic, Oko; Enugu- University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus; and Imo- Federal Polytechnic, Nekede. <br>At the stages two and three, two faculties (for universities) or schools (for polytechnics) and two departments respectively were drawn using simple random sampling. This gave rise to 6 faculties/schools and 12 departments respectively. The fourth stage applied criterion-based sampling to select students from all the levels to give a total of 400 participants from each participating HEIs. Consent was used as criteria to recruit participants. The study questionnaire was shown and explained to the prospective participants who were told of their liberty to be part of the study or to withdraw from participation even while they have already started. Only the students who accepted to be part of the study were given the research questionnaires. <br>The researcher recruited and trained seven (7) data collection research assistants and two (2) data entry clerks for the study. The data collection research assistants accessed the selected faculties and departments with the help of a member of the students’ leadership in the department to recruit participants for the study and administer the questionnaire to them. The participants were duly informed and assured of strict confidentiality of their responses as they consented to be part of the study. A total of 1200 copies of the questionnaire were given out (400 each of the 3 HEIs) and 1169 copies were retrieved. The retrieved copies of the questionnaire were sorted to discard anyone that did not meet the inclusion criteria (filling out all the necessary items) and 191 copies were found to be not properly completed and thus were discarded, leaving a total of 978 that were coded into the SPSS Software. <br>A questionnaire (GOUSCACE-Q) comprising demographic information and six scales categorized into sections (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) for easy administration and scoring was administered to participants to collect data for the study. The scales include: · How I Think Questionnaire (HIT-Q, Barriga, et al 2001). · Childhood Experience of Violence Questionnaire (CEVQ, Walsh et al., 2008). · Child Abuse and Trauma Scale (CATS, Sanders & Giolas, 1991) · Exposure to Violence and Trauma Questionnaire (Joshi & Kaschak, 1998). · Multidimensional Neglectful Behavior Scale- Adult Recall (Straus et al., 1995). · Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS, Zimet et al., 1988). · Childhood Experience of Violence Questionnaire (CEVQ, Walsh et al., 2008). · Child Abuse and Trauma Scale (CATS, Sanders & Giolas, 1991). <br>
