Demography, behavior, physiology and life-history evolution of island reptiles

I would like to return to Santa Cruz to renew my efforts to study the evolution of life-history traits in mainland vs. island populations of the gopher snake, Pituophis catenifer. To aid in capture of these elusive animals, I would like to distribute coverboards, to be used in addition to visual searches. Furthermore, I would like to begin to explore research possibilities with the other reptiles living on the island, which are more frequently encountered: alligator lizards, side-blotched lizards, fence lizards, and racers. I am interested in exploring both the island evolution, and more basic aspects of demography, behavior, and physiology of all of these species.
