Data Content: Raw data for the paper illustrations of the newly described species *Elpphe xiphodonta* (Qin Royal Rat Snake). This newly reported taxon is a basal species of the genus *Elaphe* discovered in the Qinling Mountains, and together with *Elaphe zoigeensis* (Zoige Rat Snake) distributed in Zoige, Sichuan Province, it forms the most basal clade of the genus *Elaphe* sensu stricto. The included illustrations cover specimen photographs, skull CT scan images, detailed dental images, head scale illustrations, habitat photographs, collection locality maps, and phylogenetic tree diagrams.
