In future nuclear fusion reactors, the first physical barrier facing the plasma will be strongly irradiated by helium atoms generatingmany defects at the materials surface. In that respect in operando grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering (GISAXS) and grazingincidence x-ray diffraction (GIXD) during implantation of ions into crystals are very powerful techniques to probe these alterationmechanisms. In this proposal we aim at studying the helium bubbles growth processes and train field in tungsten oxide under heliumimplantation and in a wide range of temperatures (room temperature up to 1400°C) by combining, in real-time, GISAXS and GIXD available onINS2 setup (BM32-ESRF).
