Using whole-metagenome shotgun sequencing and isolation approach, we investigated hydrocarbon-degrading potential of microbial communities from arid soils. The aim was to obtain indigenous hydrocarbon-degrading strains capable of metabolizing both n-alkanes and aromatic compounds for future application.
