The research in Ghardaïa Province explored how traditional peace-building practices within the Mozabite and Shaanbeh communities contribute to inter-communal harmony and conflict resolution. Specifically, it focused on documenting the cultural knowledge embedded in oral traditions, which are vital to the region’s historical mechanisms for fostering reconciliation and social cohesion amongst its diverse linguistic context. The data highlights how traditional Mozabite and Shaanbeh art forms and embedded cultural customs have historically played a pedagogical role in promoting peace and instilling communal values of respect and cooperation amongst Ghardaïa communities. Participants emphasised that these traditions are at risk of being lost due to modernisation. The captured narratives stress the urgency of preserving these oral traditions.
