C4 photosynthesis is a critical process for enhancing sugarcane productivity. However, the intricate regulatory mechanisms mediated by microRNAs (miRNAs) in the expression of crucial C4 genes in sugarcane remain poorly understood. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive investigation into the miRNAs that potentially regulate C4 genes in sugarcane by employing transcriptome and small RNA profiling along the leaf gradient.
